CELEBRATING JUNE DAIRY MONTH

https://stratus.campaign-image.ca/images/5959000000805004_zc_v1_1748305935089_inventures.jpg

June is a time to celebrate dairy. Today’s dairy operations are leading with innovation, from automating nutrient application to transforming manure into clean water, capturing real-time data, generating verified carbon credits, and putting every input to better use.

We work with producers who are turning science into smarter decisions and better returns. From nutrient optimization to machine learning, our technology supports dairies producing some of the most sustainable milk on the planet.

OPTIMIZE POLYMER DOSING LIKE A PRO

https://stratus.campaign-image.ca/images/5959000000805004_zc_v1_1751501380654_solids.png

Too much polymer wastes money. Too little compromises solids capture. Here are three proven ways our customers dial in their systems for peak efficiency:

  • Dose based on flow rate, not weight

  • Monitor floc quality visually

  • Perform weekly jar tests

Or let the technology handle it. We’ve developed complementary equipment to take the guesswork out. With groControl and PolyFast, you get automated chemical adjustment and dry polymer feed. Fewer cleaning cycles. Less labor. More savings. Want help optimizing your setup? Let’s talk.

GET MORE FROM YOUR MANURE WITH FIRST WAVE™ FILTRATE
https://stratus.campaign-image.ca/images/5959000000805004_zc_v1_1729823433174___karleigh’s_korner__.png

Looking for a way to get more out of your manure without overhauling your whole system? First Wave™ filtrate gives you a solids-free, plant-ready nutrient source that lines up with what your crops actually need—especially nitrogen.

This filtrate is part of the First Wave™ manure treatment system. It’s clean, consistent, and easy to work with. Unlike raw manure or lagoon water, which can be unpredictable, this stream is stable and offers a predictable N:P ratio that’s better suited to in-season crop feeding.

Apply nutrients when it counts

With First Wave™ filtrate, you can apply nutrients during the growing season—right when crops need them. That means:

  • Less wasted nitrogen

  • Less phosphorus over-application

  • Fewer environmental losses

Use what you’ve already got

Draglines, pivots, tankers—whatever you’re already using to apply liquid manure, you can use for filtrate. No big upgrades. No new capital. Just plug it in and go. Applying nutrients in season helps reduce leaching and volatilization, saves money on synthetic fertilizer, and keeps nutrients where they belong—on your fields.

More control. Less waste. Better returns.

If you’re ready to fine-tune your nutrient program without complicating your life, First Wave™ filtrate is a tool worth looking at.

CALIFORNIA’S DRAFT DAIRY WASTE ORDER SIGNALS STRICTER RULES AHEAD

https://stratus.campaign-image.ca/images/5959000000805004_zc_v1_1751501151621_california_dairy.png

California’s State Water Resources Control Board has released a draft Dairy General Waste Discharge Order that proposes major changes to manure management. Highlights include a 10 mg/L nitrate discharge threshold and more restrictive lagoon and land-application guidelines. While still under public review, the proposal signals where regulation is heading.

Our systems already help customers meet rigorous discharge targets through solids separation and nutrient recovery. If you’re operating in California, now is the time to assess whether your system can adapt to what’s next. Want help reviewing your setup or preparing for future compliance? Let’s start that conversation now.

EUROPE’S MANURE RULES ARE TIGHTENING

https://stratus.campaign-image.ca/images/5959000000805004_zc_v1_1751500820081_lagoon.png

As of June 2025, several EU countries are enforcing stricter nutrient regulations under the Nitrates Directive. Farmers in designated Nitrate Vulnerable Zones face tighter limits on nitrogen and phosphorus application, and there is growing regulatory pressure to adopt manure treatment technologies that reduce nutrient losses.

Meanwhile, the EU continues to evaluate ReNure criteria, which would allow certain processed manure products to be used more flexibly under nutrient directives. Although not yet adopted EU-wide, the regulatory momentum is shifting toward wider recognition of treated manure as a valuable fertilizer alternative.

For LWR and our customers, this reinforces a global reality. Smarter manure management is no longer optional. It’s strategic. The shift in Europe signals broader potential for farms investing in technologies that will protect land, improve nutrient efficiency, and unlock new revenue opportunites.

WE SET THE STANDARD.

THEY'RE STILL TRYING TO CATCH UP

https://stratus.campaign-image.ca/images/5959000000805004_zc_v1_1751501030013_california.png

LWR has more manure treatment systems operating on real farms than any other technology on the market. We’ve been running longer, delivering more consistent results, and building the most robust dataset in the industry. Our carbon model isn’t theoretical. It’s measurable, proven, and repeatable.

Don’t gamble on imitation. When it comes to manure treatment, only proven technology delivers profitable sustainability. Ready to see what that looks like on your farm? Request your customized nutrient assessment today and let us put the data to work for you.

FROM THE BARN TO THE BIG LEAGUES

Brady Martin didn’t spend draft night under the spotlight. He spent it on the family dairy. Taken 5th overall by the Nashville Predators in the 2025 NHL Draft, Martin made headlines for staying home to help with chores instead of attending the biggest night of his life.

Scouts didn’t just see skill. They saw work ethic. A kid who gets up early, puts in the work, and knows what it means to carry weight on his shoulders. The same kind of strength that powers farms across the country. Farming builds more than food. It builds people just like this.

Congratulations, Brady. The Preds are lucky to have you. Best of luck as you bring that farm strength up to the big leagues!

CODE IS EASIER WHEN YOU PLAN FIRST
https://stratus.campaign-image.ca/images/5959000000805004_zc_v1_1751496949224_planting_code.png

As a software engineer at Livestock Water Recycling, I spend a lot of time thinking through optimized solutions to the problems I’m presented with. I rely on tools during development, but just as important is how we organize things before the coding even begins.

At LWR, we use GitHub, Confluence, and Jira to keep work traceable and well-documented. Jira tickets are linked to pull requests, with titles that give a clear snapshot of what’s changing. Adding descriptions, screenshots, and related URLs helps give the full picture, especially when reviewing code later. I’ve found that including helpful comments in code makes it easier to follow logic, both in the moment and down the line.

For my own workflow, I take daily notes to track tasks and break big problems into smaller, manageable pieces. I also keep a document of ideas, resources, and code snippets, each with a quick note about why I saved it.

To me, organization is part of writing good code. It shows up in everything from choosing the right structures, to writing useful pull request descriptions, to how you plan your day. The details matter. They help you, and whoever’s reading your code next!

TURN ONE CONVERSATION INTO $1000 CASH

https://stratus.campaign-image.ca/images/5959000000805004_zc_v1_1751500418419_referrals.png

We know good farmers talk to each other. If someone in your circle is thinking about manure treatment or nutrient recovery, send them our way. If they end up installing a system, we’ll send you a $1,000 referral bonus as a thank you.

That’s it. No forms. No pressure. Just connect us, and we’ll take it from there.

You already know what the First Wave can do. Cleaner filtrate. Better nutrient management. Carbon potential. If someone you know is ready to take that next step, make the introduction, we’ll set up a free manure analysis, and  if they move forward, you get paid.

EVERY HOLIDAY PICNIC STARTS ON THE FARM
https://stratus.campaign-image.ca/images/5959000000805004_zc_v1_1751255477842_canada_us.png

From burgers and hot dogs, to sweet corn and ice cream, the food on every holiday table starts with a farm.

On the Fourth of July alone, Americans are expected to eat over 150 million hot dogs, more than 700 million pounds of chicken, and thousands of tons of watermelon and corn. In Canada, millions of burgers, steaks, and dairy products fill grills and coolers all across the country on Canada Day. And we have farmers to thank for that. We’re grateful for the work that makes it all possible.

Happy holidays from all of us at LWR. (...and THANK YOU to Karleigh for the delicious LWR Stampede-themed cookies!)
