LASH LEGACY DAIRY SHOWS US WHAT PROFITABLE SUSTAINABILITY LOOKS LIKE
Lash Legacy Dairy, part of the Whitby Farms group of companies, is showing how manure can move from liability to reliable income. By adopting LWR’s Manure-as-a-Service program, the farm now operates a First Wave 85 system equipped with polyFAST and grōControl. This setup captures data, optimizes performance, and generates verified carbon credits in partnership with 3Degrees.
For Lash Legacy, sustainability is more than a commitment, it's a measurable profit stream that strengthens the farm for the next generation.
With no capital expense required, MAAS makes advanced manure treatment practical and profitable for farms of every size... and the results speak for themselves! Measurable returns for the farm and verified value for carbon buyers who are seeking proven climate impact.

Where does your milk go, who do you sell to, and which state are you in? We are gathering insights to better understand the dairy landscape, and your input matters. Responses are anonymous, but they will help us continue to build solutions that meet farmers where they are today.
The recent Dairy Foods 2025 Top 100 confirms just how much influence farmer-owned cooperatives and processors have in shaping the market. Dairy Farmers of America again ranked first with $23 billion in sales, while co-ops like Agropur, Land O’Lakes, Prairie Farms, and California Dairies all reported multi-billion-dollar revenues. But those numbers only tell one side of the story.
The real story starts on your farm, because no matter which co-op or processor picks up your milk, it is the daily work of producers that powers this entire industry. Share your insight in our one-minute survey and help us connect farm-level priorities with the bigger picture of where dairy is headed.

THE ROAD TO MADISON RUNS ON FARMER INNOVATION
From September 30 to October 3, the world will gather in Madison, Wisconsin for the 2025 World Dairy Expo. With more than 500 exhibitors and a global audience, the Expo is the largest dairy stage in the world. This year the spotlight will be on the farmers who are leading the industry with smarter, more profitable sustainability practices.
The Expo will also highlight the technologies that are scaling across dairies and shaping the future of food production. For every farm, it is validation that the work being done on the ground matters far beyond the barn. LWR will be watching closely as nutrient recovery, carbon credit validation, and precision water reuse take center stage.
Join us in Madison or reach out to schedule time with our team.

TAKING THE PRESSURE OFF FARMERS WITH PROVEN NITRATE MANAGEMENT
Nitrates in manure don’t always make headlines, but they’re at the center of a lot of regulations in both Europe and here in North America. When many dairies operate in the same area, nitrate levels in groundwater can build up, which means farms often find themselves in the spotlight for water quality concerns. Europe already enforces strict limits in “Nitrate Vulnerable Zones,” and in California, rules are tightening around groundwater protection too.
Here’s the good news: LWR systems are built to take that pressure off. By separating solids and isolating nutrients, we can manage phosphorus where it’s needed most and use the nitrogen-rich liquid at the right time for crop uptake. That means less risk of leaching or runoff, more control over nutrients, and cleaner water stored or recycled back on-farm.
Smarter nutrient management keeps regulators happy, protects waterways, and most importantly gives farmers the confidence that their manure program is delivering value instead of risk.Curious how this looks on-farm? Connect with me today to learn more.
I’ll also be diving deeper into these topics on September 9th during Iowa State University’s Emerging Science of Anaerobic Digestion webinar series. This program brings together industry and academic voices to explore both the science and the real-world application of anaerobic digestion. I’ll be sharing how manure treatment and on-farm data from LWR systems tie directly into nutrient recovery, carbon validation, and water protection. Registration is free, and I’d love to see you there.

WHAT EUROPE'S MANURE CRISIS MEANS FOR NORTH AMERICA
In the Netherlands, farmers are facing one of the most challenging nutrient crises in recent history. With the phase-out of manure derogations under EU law, more than 95 kilotonnes of nitrogen are expected to exceed limits by 2026. This crisis has created political unrest, supply chain uncertainty, and intense pressure on producers who already deliver some of the most efficient milk in the world.
The lesson for North America is clear. Smarter manure management is no longer optional, it is strategic. Farms that adopt proven nutrient recovery systems now will be ready for whatever regulations come next. Those who lead today will be the ones setting the standard for tomorrow.
Reach out to schedule a nutrient assessment and learn how LWR can prepare your farm for the future.

FROM HORSE-DRAWN MANURE SPREADER TO HIGH-TECH NUTRIENT RECOVERY SYSTEMS
This antique horse-drawn manure spreader was once an innovative tool that changed the way farmers handled nutrients. Today it has been retired from barn duty and transformed into a planter bursting with flowers. It is a reminder that every generation of agriculture brings new solutions, each one paving the way for the next.
What started with spreading manure in the field has evolved into nutrient recovery systems that turn manure into clean water, valuable fertilizer, and verified carbon credits. The tools look different now, but the mission is the same: helping farmers get more from every input.
