KARLEIGH LEWIS FEATURED ON THESUCCESSFUL FARMING PODCAST
Karleigh Lewis, LWR’s in-house Certified Crop Advisor and Account Manager, was recently featured on the Successful Farming Podcast, where she joined host Lorrie Boyer to discuss how manure management is changing on today’s farms.
The conversation focuses on how newer technologies like advanced separation, real-time monitoring, and nutrient recovery are helping producers improve environmental performance while creating new revenue opportunities, including carbon credits. It’s a practical look at how manure systems are becoming more consistent, more measurable, and more valuable in day-to-day operations.
If you’re thinking about how to get more from your manure system, this is a conversation worth listening to.

LWR FEATURED IN EMISSIONS REDUCTION ALBERTA SPOTLIGHT
What if manure could be turned into clean water, dry fertilizer, and measurable emissions reductions, right on the farm? That’s exactly what LWR’s PLANT system is designed to do!
In a recent feature from Emissions Reduction Alberta, the PLANT system is highlighted as a practical, on-site solution that processes liquid manure, recovers reusable water, and reduces the environmental footprint of livestock operations.
The project is supported through Alberta’s TIER program, which focuses on advancing technologies that deliver real emissions reductions while keeping producers competitive.
It’s another example of how manure is becoming a measurable, manageable asset.

WHY MANURE SYSTEMS NEED TO DO MORE THAN JUST MANAGE MANURE
Sustainability expectations are rising across the livestock industry. Producers are being asked to reduce emissions, improve nutrient management, and provide credible reporting. The challenge is that these have often been handled separately, adding layers of cost and inefficiency.
What’s changing is the move toward more integrated systems that bring these pieces together.
Manure is a key source of on-farm emissions, particularly methane from storage and nitrous oxide from excess nitrogen. By separating solids early, systems like LWR’s First Wave reduce the organic material that drives those emissions. At the same time, they create more consistent nutrient streams that are easier to manage and apply.
The result is a measurable reduction in emissions, along with better control over nutrients.
Separation allows nutrients to be handled MORE intentionally. Phosphorus can be concentrated into solids and moved where it's needed, while the liquid fraction is easier to manage and better aligned with crop uptake. That means less loss, less waste, and MORE value from the same manure stream.
There is also a growing expectation around data. Processors, regulators, and carbon programs are asking for proof. Systems that create defined streams and consistent performance make it easier to track and report outcomes.
What stands out is how these pieces are coming together. Emissions, nutrients, and data are no longer separate conversations. They are part of the same system.
When manure is managed this way, it becomes MORE simple, MORE predictable, and MORE valuable.
If you’re looking at ways to get MORE from your manure system while meeting evolving expectations, it might be worth a closer look.

SMARTER SYSTEM OPERATION WITH grōCONTROL™
Modern manure systems are expected to do more than just run. They need to perform consistently, generate reliable data, and support environmental reporting.
grōControl™ is the intelligent control platform behind LWR systems, designed to make that happen automatically.
By combining real-time monitoring, automation, and continuous data capture, grōControl™ keeps systems operating consistently while reducing the need for manual oversight. Flow rates, process conditions, and system performance are continuously tracked and adjusted to maintain efficiency and prevent downtime.
At the same time, every step is recorded and time-stamped, creating a clear digital record of system performance. This supports methane avoidance verification, emissions reporting, and participation in carbon and environmental credit programs, without requiring manual tracking.
The result is a system that not only runs better, but proves it.
For producers, that means more consistent performance, less day-to-day intervention, and confidence that environmental outcomes are being captured and documented as the system operates.

SEE CALIFORNIA'S FIRST VERIFIED METHANE AVOIDANCE PROJECT IN ACTION
Earlier this year, Pete Postma and Sons Dairy became the first dairy in the state of California to receive verified carbon credits for methane avoidance using LWR’s First Wave™ system.
Now that the project has come full circle, from installation to operation to verified payment, we’re starting to see what this looks like in practice.
Figure 8 Environmental recently shared a video from the site that gives a closer look at how the system is set up and how it’s running day to day on a working dairy.
The process itself is straightforward. By removing volatile solids early, before they break down in storage, methane generation is avoided. The outcome is measurable and now, verified.
This project is also part of a larger shift underway in California. Eleven more Dairy Plus–funded projects are now moving forward using the same approach, with installations expected over the coming months.
If you’ve been following the conversation around carbon credits, nutrient management, and manure treatment, this is a good look at how those pieces are starting to come together on farm.
